We spend time getting to know you and your oral health in more detail, and carefully examine your teeth, gums and mouth. We may take digital X-rays to form a full picture. We also check any past dental work with you and ask if you have any concerns.

We have same-day availability for urgent appointments and dental emergencies at Barnton Dental. We may also be able to offer new patient appointments on the same day or very near, please talk to our friendly team to find out our availability.
At your first appointment, you should expect a warm welcome, informal chat and detailed examination of your mouth, teeth and gums to fully assess your oral health. We may also take digital X-rays and will likely ask you to fill in some forms about your dental and medical history.
For your convenience, we will register you at the same time as you book an appointment with us. Either before or during your first visit, we will ask you to fill in some forms so we can properly add you to our system as a new patient.
Your first appointment will be slightly longer than your dental check-ups going forward, so please allow around 30-45 minutes for it. We take time to ensure you feel at ease and to fully assess your oral health, including taking X-rays.
