Why have dentures?

Whether you are missing a few teeth or an entire arch, dentures offer a stable and aesthetically pleasing restorative solution. They are typically made from high-grade acrylic for a natural appearance, although metal can also be used for increased strength. Partial dentures are designed to blend discreetly with your existing teeth, while complete sets are tailored to look remarkably lifelike.

Replacing missing teeth with a full set of dentures also provides vital support to your facial structure, preventing the premature sagging often associated with tooth loss. If you have some natural teeth remaining, partial dentures help keep these firmly in place, preventing them from shifting out of position and causing bite issues.

What does the denture process involve?

Designing, creating and fitting the perfect dentures is a meticulous and involved process, so you will typically need several appointments to ensure your final set of new teeth is comfortable and secure. During your initial consultation, we discuss your goals, explain the process and answer your questions.

We use advanced digital scans and images to create a precise model of your mouth and produce a trial denture. This is checked for comfort, bite and appearance, and adjusted until we are both completely happy with the look and feel.

Your final set of dentures is custom-made using the precise model. At your fitting appointment, we ensure everything feels comfortable and looks as you expected. Complete dentures fit your mouth in a similar way to a gumshield, while partial dentures often use hooks secured to your existing teeth. We give you some tips for getting used to your dentures and let you know to contact us if you need help.
