Why are dental check-ups important?

We believe that prevention is always better than cure, which is why it is essential that we examine your teeth and gums at least twice a year. Regular appointments allow our team to spot any potential problems before they can get worse, saving you time and money.

During your check-up, we also discuss your home oral hygiene routine. We provide bespoke advice on the most effective teeth cleaning techniques to ensure you are doing the best job to protect your smile from damage and decay between your visits.

What does a check up involve?

When you arrive for your appointment, we warmly welcome you and ask if you have experienced any problems since your last visit or have any concerns you wish to share with us. We also make sure you are feeling fit and well.

We thoroughly examine your teeth, gums and mouth, looking for signs of decay, infection, gum disease and bite problems. We also carry out a screen for oral cancer, checking your soft tissues, neck and tongue.

If we identify anything that needs further treatment, we explain your options and the costs involved.

To finish your check up, we give you some personalised advice on the best ways to keep your teeth in excellent condition at home, including brushing techniques and diet tips.
