New patients are welcomed at Barnton Dental!

Why should I visit the dentist regularly?

Visiting the dentist for a general check-up is the best way to ensure your mouth stays healthy. Potential problems can be identified early, meaning that they are likely to be less involved, uncomfortable and costly in the future.

You should aim to visit your dentist approximately twice a year for check-ups (or as advised). The dentist will check thoroughly for signs of cavities, gum disease and other changes which could indicate oral cancers for example.

It is also advised that you visit our hygienist around twice a year too, so that teeth can be cleaned, gums checked, problem areas pointed out and preventive advice given.

We are always pleased to welcome new patients to our practice.

New patients- what will happen at my first visit?

At your first appointment, we will ask you about your overall health and any medication you are taking. If you do have any specific problems with your mouth, gums or teeth then please point these out now.

We will fully examine your teeth, gums and mouth. This may involve the use of x-rays. Our standard dental appointments always include checks for the signs of gum disease and bone density.

If required, the dentist will advise you on your diet, smoking, alcohol use and teeth cleaning habits if they are negatively affecting your oral health.

If you do require any further treatment, this will be explained to you and a treatment plan will be put in place.

After your check up, the dentist will recommend how long you should leave until your next visit. Every patient is different and your needs will depend on a number of factors.

In order to pay for treatment, we have both a standard fees policy and a denplan monthly plan in place for your convenience.
